A Workshop for Educators, Parents and Service Providers

May 17, 2018

Hope School, 7901 Knott Ave, Buena Park

4:30 to 7:30 PM

Mary Joann Lang, RN, PhD, ABPN, BCBA-D

With a background as a nurse, educator, special needs parent, neuropsychologist, and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Dr. Mary Joann Lang brings a wealth of informed experience to her roles as Founder/CEO of Beacon Day School for Children with Autism and Related Disorders, and founder/executive director of Beacon Life Project (nonprofit). Dr. Lang has also served as a professor in the Department of Counseling and School Psychology at Azusa Pacific University as well as currently on staff as adjunct faculty with Argosy University.

Bringing decades of experience and expertise on a variety of issues facing the disability community, Dr. Mary Jo Lang explores the subject of sexuality among the special needs population, with an emphasis on the role sexuality plays on changes in physiological, psychological, and emotional functioning and well-being.

With her frank and honest approach, Dr. Lang empowers parents, caregivers, and professionals by providing invaluable information and resources on a topic worthy of significant attention and study, but one that is nonetheless often overlooked and avoided within the field of special education and advocacy.

By connecting the audience to informative, relevant, meaningful content, Dr. Lang removes the stigma surrounding sexuality and disability, and creates an engaging discussion designed to enlighten and educate the audience, while introducing strategies to address the many challenges that exist for the special needs community in relation to this important subject matter, and how these challenges may manifest in everyday life.
