At Perkins School for the Blind, we help children with disabilities and visual impairments find their place in the world.
As the first school for the blind in the U.S. – founded on the radical belief that every child can learn – Perkins has been an advocate for children with disabilities from the beginning.
Our continuum of services addresses every need, ability and age – from infancy through college prep. On our campus, we have been developing and delivering best practices in education to students with complex visual impairments and multiple disabilities for nearly 200 years.

The DVIDB Distinguished Service Award is to recognize exemplary leadership and commitment to the field of education and rehabilitation of students with visual impairments and deafblindness.
The DVIDB Exemplary Advocate Award is to recognize exemplary advocacy and commitment to the field of education and rehabilitation of students with visual impairments and deafblindness.
The DVIDB Teacher of the Year Award honors a person who is exceptionally dedicated, knowledgeable and a skilled certified Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments or Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist in any state approved or accredited day or specialized school, who serves students who are visually impaired, ages birth through 21, with or without additional disabilities.
